Chocolate Truffles Using Your Hob

Delicious and fun to make on your own or with your children

Ingredients :

100g (4 oz) bar of plain or milk chocolate

3 tbsp double cream

0.5 tsp vanilla extract

15g (0.5 oz) butter

2 tbsp cocoa powder

2 tbsp coconut

Preparation :

  1. Snap the chocolate into a bowl. Add the cream, vanilla extract and butter. Put the bowl over a pan of simmering water to melt the chocolate, stirring occasionally.
  2. Let the chocolate mixture cook, then put it into the freezer. Stir every 5 minutes or so until the mixture is thick and fudgy.
  3. For each truffle, roll a teaspoon of the fudge mixture into a ball in your hand *quickly so it doesn’t melt) then roll it in cocoa powder or coconut

Having made these many times, I make sure I have the little cases ready to put the truffles in. I have also used chopped hazelnuts instead of cocoa powder or coconut. I helped my daughter make these and we bought little bags with ties and gave them as presents to her friends. Fun to make and a pleasure to eat
