RECIPE FOR CHILLI IN SLOW COOKER

Here’s a simple recipe for slow cooker chili:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey if you prefer)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced (optional)
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional toppings:

  • Sour cream
  • Shredded cheese
  • Chopped green onions
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions:

  1. Brown the beef: In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat until fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Combine in slow cooker: Transfer the cooked beef to the slow cooker and add the onion, garlic, bell pepper (if using), beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and broth.
  3. Season: Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  4. Cook: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. The chili should be thick and flavourful.
  5. Serve: Once cooked, give the chili a good stir, taste, and adjust seasoning as necessary. Serve with your favourite toppings.

Enjoy your hearty, comforting slow cooker chili!
